As we talk
from time to time, my friends of “a
certain age” say to me that the more
senior they become, the more active
their memories become. Scenes pass
before their eyes as if it were
yesterday. Their life, from the
youthful years up to this day, seems to
have more clarity when looking back over
time.
We slow down
now, and our steps are not so fast.
There is time to reflect, to think, and
to ponder how we got over—how we made it
from our early days to now. The Holy
Bible, in the book of Psalm chapter 103
verses 8 through 10 affirms, “the
Lord, He is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love; He
will not always accuse nor harbor His
anger forever; He does not treat us as
our sins deserve, or repay us according
to our iniquities.” God, who has
dominion over all things, makes it
possible for us to persevere through the
seasons of our life. As we reflect, we
can see God’s redemptive plan for those
who sincerely, diligently seek to know
Him begins and ends our relationship
with Him through Christ.
The praise
trumpeted in Psalm 103, “is for
blessings bestowed on all peoples and
nations of the world.” The exhortation
is for those who fear Him, who are in
awe of Him to “Praise the Lord O my
soul, and forget not all His benefits.”
We are to be thankful as we reminisce,
for the advantages accrued to use are
endless—too numerous to count.
God forgives, He heals, redeems, crowns
with love and compassion. He is God who
satisfies our desires with good things
so that our youth is renewed like the
eagle. From everlasting to everlasting,
He is God. He satisfies our needs.
